About
Hi, I’m Justine.
I’m a watercolor artist, wife, mom, and lifelong observer of the little things.
I didn’t grow up knowing I would be an artist. In fact, I picked up watercolor in May of 2025 because I wanted a way to relax my mind and just be. What started as something just for myself, quickly became something much bigger. I fell in love with the quiet discipline of watercolor—the way it asks you to slow down, pay attention, and let the paint do some of the work.
That feeling of slowing down is at the heart of everything I create.
We live in a world that moves incredibly fast. There is always another notification, another responsibility, another thing asking for our attention. As a wife and mom raising two boys while working a full-time corporate job and building my art business, I know how easy it is for life to become a blur of doing.
Painting became a place where I could simply be free.
My work is an attempt to capture the quiet moments the world is often too busy to notice: the particular expression in a beloved dog’s eyes, the way light falls across a landscape, a bird resting for just a moment, the movement of water, or the beauty of something wonderfully ordinary.
I’m drawn to animals, nature, homes, and the little stories held within them. I love paintings that feel a little loose, a little imperfect, and full of life. I’m especially inspired by the colors and textures found in the natural world—soft earth tones, granulating pigments, shifting skies, water, trees, and the unexpected colors hiding inside shadows.
In 2025, I challenged myself to paint every single day for 365 days. I painted through busy seasons, early mornings, family life, sickness, loss, and all the ordinary interruptions that make up a year. The project taught me that consistency matters, but it also taught me something more important: art doesn’t have to be rushed to be worthwhile.
Today, I’m less interested in simply producing more paintings and more interested in becoming a better artist—learning, experimenting, noticing, and creating work that feels honest and meaningful.
I believe art can be more than something beautiful hanging on a wall. It can remind us to pause. To remember someone we love. To notice the familiar in a new way. To make a home feel like home. To bring a little peace into an otherwise chaotic day.
That is why I paint.
To create beauty and calm in a world that so often feels chaotic.
And if one of my paintings gives you a reason to stop for a moment and look a little longer, then I think it has done exactly what I hoped it would.
